Work Experience Students
We regularly have students from local schools spending time at the Moe Veterinary Centre learning about the veterinary profession. Our work experience program aims to expose students to the various aspects of working in a vet clinic – from the perspective of both a nurse and a veterinarian.
Over the course of a week, we aim to have students complete a list of tasks:
- Observe routine procedures.
- Handling suture material and sterile instruments
- Accompanying vets on farm calls
- Learn how to identify and pack surgical instruments
- Aid in preparing patients for surgery
- Learning how to assess X-rays
- Walking patients
- Helping with cleaning duties
Students work from 9am – 5.00pm, Monday to Friday. Dress is smart casual with flat, enclosed shoes, we can provide a scrub top. If possible, bring overalls and gumboots for going out on farm calls. Work experience places fill up quickly, so it is best to make arrangements well in advance.
Students who wish to apply for work experience or placement are encouraged to email your resume and cover letter to reception@moevet.com.au. Our work placement coordinators Kierra and Jayda will be in contact once your email is received.
