Dr. Stuart Cocking

Veterinarian

Stu grew up in a farming family north of Melbourne with a Friesian dairy herd, an Angus beef herd, as well as horses, four dogs, a cat, two pet lambs, and a series of hand reared pet calves. After finishing local secondary schooling, he headed off to the University of Melbourne to complete his Bachelor of Veterinary Science.

After his 2007 graduation Stu’s love affair with Gippsland began. First, he moved to Leongatha and joined a large dairy mixed practice gaining a great deal of dairy cattle and small animal experience. This was followed by a two-year working holiday, based in the UK as a locum vet, with travels into continental Europe, North America and North Africa.

Upon his return it was back to Gippsland where Stu took up a senior role in a small animal clinic in the Latrobe Valley then shifted back to mixed-practice in West Gippsland where he spent the next 5 years.

In early 2020, Stu made the decision to join wife, Laura, in their family business at Moe Veterinary Centre. Stu is thrilled to be working with Laura and the fun-loving Moe team, and gets great enjoyment out of meeting his new clients and patients.

When not at work, Stu enjoys heading out bush on his mountain bike with his trusty companion Shirley, the German Wirehaired Pointer. In summer, and when time permits he thinks a beach trip is the best way to pass a weekend, especially if he can take the stand-up paddleboard and scuba gear along.
